Horní Police (German Oberpolitz ) is a municipality in the Okres Česká Lípa in the Liberec region in the north of the Czech Republic . It is located in the valley of the river Ploučnice (Polzen) on the road from Česká Lípa (Bohemian Leipa) to Děčín (Tetschen) .
history
From the middle of the 19th century, the municipality belonged to the judicial district of Böhmisch Leipa or the district of Böhmisch Leipa .
Community structure
The municipality of Horní Police consists of the districts Dvorsko ( Hofberg ), Horní Police (Oberpolitz) , Pod Školou and Podlesí (Waldeck) . Basic settlement units are Horní Police, Pod Školou and Podlesí. Horní Police also includes the settlements of Bělá ( Biela ) and Stoupno ( Staupen ).
Attractions
- Baroque parish and pilgrimage church “Maria Heimsuchung” , built 1689–1701 by Giulio Broggio . Politz was once a well-known place of pilgrimage. At the moment it is again a place of pilgrimage for the Visitation of the Virgin Mary.
- Oberpolitz Castle (once owned by Julius Franz von Sachsen-Lauenburg )
- The stone bridge over the Polzen ( Ploučnice ) with the crucifix from 1840 is the town's landmark and is symbolically represented in the town's coat of arms.
Personalities
- Wenzel Hocke (born January 8, 1732 in Neustadtel , † March 1, 1808 in Oberpolitz), known as Hockewanzel , Roman Catholic priest and archdechant in Politz since 1779. He was seen as Eulenspiegel in priestly robes and was an original that is unparalleled in the German-Bohemian region.
