Stružnice (German Straussnitz ) is a municipality of the Okres Česká Lípa in the Liberec region in the north of the Czech Republic .
The community is located on the river Ploučnice (Polzen) and on the railway line from Benesov nad Ploucnici to Česká Lípa .
history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1197. The place has been inhabited for more than 700 years and has always been a center of the region. It was first mentioned around 1386. In the 15th century it was promoted to town under the rule of the Wartenbergs, and the character of the town has been preserved for centuries. From the middle of the 19th century, the municipality belonged to the judicial district of Böhmisch Leipa or the district of Böhmisch Leipa .

The municipality of Stružnice consists of the districts Bořetín (Tiefendorf) , Jezvé (Neustadtel) , Stráž u České Lípy (Schönborn) and Stružnice (Straussnitz) .
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Jezvé, Stráž u České Lípy and Stružnice.
Personalities
Wenzel Hocke , known as Hockewanzel , a Catholic priest and Archdechant in Politz since 1779 , was born on January 8, 1732 in Neustadtel (today Jezvé). He was seen as Eulenspiegel in priestly garb and was an original that is unparalleled in the German-Bohemian region.
