Svor (German Röhrsdorf bei Zwickau ) is a municipality of the Okres Česká Lípa in the Liberec region in the north of the Czech Republic .

geography

The place is in the Lusatian Mountains in the valley of the Svorský potok brook at the intersection of the European route 442 from Děčín (Tetschen-Bodenbach) to Liberec (Reichenberg) with the main road No. 9 from Prague to Rumburk (Rumburg) and on to Löbau . It is located at the foot of both the Klíč (Kleis) and the Rousínovský vrch (Hammrichberg) . To the south lies the Údolí samoty ( Luzengrund ) on the upper reaches of the Dobranovský potok .

history

In 1788 the Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built in Röhrsdorf. In 1866 the construction of the Northern Bohemian Railway from Bakov nad Jizerou to Rumburk , which runs through Svor, began. Because of the mountainous terrain, several challenging structures were required. One of these is the railway embankment in Svor, which has a height of 15 m. The glassworks was opened in 1873. In 1898 the "high spring water pipeline" was built, and in 1914 electricity was introduced. As early as 1910, Röhrsdorf had a population of 1475.

There was an error when choosing the Czech name Svor . Svor denotes mica slate in Czech ; however, this rock does not exist in the area.

Community structure

The municipality of Svor consists of the districts Rousínov (Morgenthau) and Svor (Röhrsdorf) . Svor includes the one-shift Nová Hu Ein ( Neuhütte ).
