The castle Zbiroh , even Zbirohy called, is located at Mala Skala (Kleinskal) in Bohemian Paradise (Bohemian Paradise) in the Czech Republic . From the medieval castle only part of the outer walls, some hewn rooms and the cistern are preserved.

history

Little is known about the history of the castle. Zbiroh was founded at the beginning of the 14th century during the reign of King Wenzel IV. The lord of the castle was Marquardt von Wartenberg , who, however, also worked as a robber baron and attacked commercial travelers. In 1388 the castle was conquered by royal troops. During the Hussite Wars at the beginning of the 15th century, Otto the Elder von Bergow , a descendant of the Lobdeburg (noble family) s owner of Zbiroh. Later the castle was again in the hands of robber barons. That is why it was conquered and razed in 1442. In 1448 the castle is described as desolate and abandoned.
