Phyllis Nelson (born October 3, 1950 in Indiana , † January 12, 1998 in Los Angeles ) was an American singer .
biography
In the 1970s, Nelson was alongside singers Karen Dempsey and Allison Hobbs a member of the Brown Sugar trio , which had a small hit in the US charts in early 1976 with the single The Game Is Over (What's the Matter with You) 79).
The first release as a solo artist was the 1980 single Don't Stop the Train . The song was ranked # 20 on Billboard Dance Music / Club Play Singles in 1981 . Another success came with the self-penned song Move Closer , which became a number one hit in the UK charts in 1985 . The single I Like You also received a lot of attention and was at the top of the US dance charts and a middle position on the Billboard Hot 100.
For the French crime film The Panther from 1985 Nelson sang the final track song I Don't Know together with the main actor Alain Delon . She died of breast cancer in Los Angeles in 1998 .
