Bílý Potok (German Weißbach ) is a municipality in the north of the Czech Republic in the Okres Liberec , Liberecký kraj .
Bílý Potok extends in the Jizera Mountains valley of the brook Hájený potok and the Smědá to the confluence of the brooks Bílý potok and Černý potok .
history
In 1594, Bílý Potok was founded by Melchior von Redern .
In the 18th century, Bílý Potok was a municipality characterized by a wide range of businesses. Large parts of them had specialized in making paper from rags. There are also two spinning mills, eleven sawmills and three mills. In general, Bílý Potok was and is a municipality in which the wood industry and wood processing played a major role, as can be seen from a sawmill in the Zádní Studánka district. The place belonged to the judicial district Friedland or the district Friedland .
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and belonged to the Friedland district until 1945 .
In the summer of 2010, the place was badly affected by the Smědá floods. Parts of the place were under water and caused great damage.
Buildings
- Holy Trinity Church. In its place there was a chapel until 1888. The church was consecrated in 1890. In front of the church there is a fountain and a memorial to the victims of the First World War.
- The school building near the church was built in the years 1904-1906 in the secession style.
- Statue of Saint John Nepomuk near the school playground.
- Road to Smědava : The road along the Směda River was built in 1893–1895. The rocks of the Jizera Mountains proved to be difficult .
