history

Pěnčín was first mentioned in a document in 1383. At that time the Hradiště monastery had acquired large estates in the area and settled the areas. Pěnčín was also part of the monastery property administered by the Svijany Monastery . However, part of the place formed a free manorial rule and was owned by a local noble family whose seat was the Pěnčín Fortress.

After the destruction of the monastery by the Hussites , the later Emperor Sigismund left a large part of the Hradiště domain, to which Pěnčín also belonged, to his follower Johann von Wartenberg auf Ralsko . And when Jan Čapek ze Sán occupied Turnov in 1425 and then made Hradiště Monastery his seat, Pěnčín was one of the places he controlled.

In 1547 Ferdinand I had all the property belonging to Adam von Wartenberg, who was involved in the uprising, move in, and Johann von Oppersdorff received the lordship . After Adam died in 1564, his two sons regained the Skaly rule, which they shared. Pěnčín belonged together with Střížovice and Vitanovice to the newly formed Svijany dominion , which Jaroslav received from Wartenberg. Through his widow Anna Katharina Smiřický von Smiřice it came to her second husband Joachim Andreas von Schlick . After his execution, Albrecht von Waldstein bought the rule on July 27, 1622 and left it to his cousin Maximilian von Waldstein in 1624. In 1814 the princes Rohan became owners of the village. Pěnčín has been an independent municipality since 1850.

The inhabitants of the place lived mainly from agriculture, in which fruit growing plays a major role because of the southern slope. In the 1970s and 1980s there was a friendship - combined with regular visits - between SG 48 Schönfels from the former GDR and TJ Sokol Pěnčín. After the end of the GDR, these visits on a family basis were continued until at least 2016.
