history
At the end of the 14th century, Raspenau and the now incorporated villages Mildenau ( Luh ) and Mildeneichen ( Lužec ) were mentioned in the interest register of the Friedland dominion . The Karolinthal ( Peklo ) district did not emerge until the end of the 18th century from isolated courtyards and gardens in the Hölltal on the north side of the village.
In the 16th century, Raspenau gained importance due to the mining of iron ore and the construction of a hammer mill, which however disappeared again after the Thirty Years' War. Only with industrialization did an upswing set in again; The worsted spinning mill of Anton Richter's Sons (originally Johann Liebieg & Comp. ), established in the Mildenau district in 1851, employed over 1000 people in 1929. The place belonged from the middle of the 19th century to the judicial district Friedland or the district Friedland .
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and belonged to the Friedland district until 1945 .
After the Second World War and the expulsion of the predominantly German population, the worsted spinning mill and other businesses fell into disrepair.
Today Raspenau mainly benefits from the tourist infrastructure of the Jizera Mountains . During the floods in August 2010, the place suffered great damage.
