The Pustý potok (German Schöllbich ) is a left tributary of the Smědá ( Wittig ) in the Czech Republic .

course

The Pustý potok rises north of Filipka on the northeast slope of the Stržový vrch ( Grubberg , 704 m) below the Lysé skály ( Kahlsteine , 620 m) in the Jizera Mountains and flows north at the western foot of the Kopřivník ( Nesselberg ).

The lower course of the Pustý potok leads into the Jizera foothills . The stream flows west past the settlement U Dvora ( Meierhofhäuser ); to the west, on the hill Podlesí (446 m), there used to be a single layer of desert land ( Pustý statek ), from which the current name of the stream is derived. At the north-western exit of Raspenava the stream is bridged by the road III / 290 to Frýdlant and the Liberec – Zawidów railway line. After five kilometers the Pustý potok flows into the Smědá in Raspenava.

Between 2012 and 2014 a rainwater retention basin was built at Pustý potok .

Loupežnická jeskyně

On the right side above the valley of the Pustý potok is the Loupežnická jeskyně (Robbers' Cave ) at Kopřivník . In the 15th century it served as a hiding place for the mugger Peter Vorbach, who was up to mischief on the Hemmrich ( Oldřichovské sedlo ).
