history
The first documentary mention of the village Koetynu , which belonged to the Grafenstein lordship, dates back to 1409. During the Middle Ages, iron ore was mined, which then came to a standstill. Since 1713 the place was called Ketten . Mining revived from 1786, but no more ores were mined, but a smaller deposit of lignite .
After the abolition of patrimonial chains formed an independent municipality in the judicial district of Kratzau or Reichenberg district . In 1842 the Kaiserstraße from Zittau to Reichenberg was built and the railway between the two cities was built between 1857 and 1859. An old pass road led over the mountains to the Freudenhöhe ( Jitravské sedlo ), which was expanded into the road to Jítrava in the 20th century , but lost all importance with the new construction of the connection from Bílý Kostel nad Nisou . The Freudenhöh (Na Rozkoši) settlement was established on the Freudenhöhe. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the Czech place name Chotyň was created in 1919 , which was changed to Chotyně in 1923 .
The iron-containing springs were used for spa operations in the 20th century. The result was the Bad Wartburg, which perished in World War II.
