Dolní Suchá (German Nieder Berzdorf ) is a district of the city of Hrádek nad Nisou in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers south of Hrádek nad Nisou and belongs to the Okres Liberec .

The scattered settlement Dolní Suchá is located on the left side of the Neisse at the transition from the Lusatian Mountains to the Jeschken Mountains . The village is traversed by the Natterbach, which has no name in Czech. Vraní vrch (329 m) rises to the north opposite the Neisse valley. In the south are the Jítravský vrch ( sponge mountain , 651 m) with the Fellerkofel , the Vysoká ( Trögelsberg , 545 m) with the elephant stones , the Kozí hřbety ( goat back ) and the Ostrý vrch ( pointed stone , 507 m). To the west are the Hřebeny ( Passer Kamm , 530 m), the Krkávčí skály ( Rabensteine ; 499 m) and the Nad Vodárnou ( Giebelsberg , 358 m). Bunker lines of the Czechoslovak Wall run across the ridge .

Neighboring towns are Hamr and Chotyně in the north, Pekařka in the northeast, Bílý Kostel nad Nisou and Panenská Hůrka in the east, Na Rozkoši and Jítrava in the south, Černá Louže and Polesí in the southwest, Horní Sedlo in the west and Dolní Sedlo and Donín in the northwest.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1562 as Dolleyssy Bertelsdorf . The village belonging to the Grafenstein lordship consisted of 75 houses in 1830 and had 535 inhabitants. At that time there was a village school in Nieder Berzdorf. The parish was German Pankraz .

After the abolition of patrimonial , Nieder Berzdorf formed a district of the political community of Ketten in the district administration of Reichenberg from 1850 . In 1869 657 people lived in Nieder Berzdorf. In 1878 Nieder Berzdorf became independent, in 1900 the community had 866 inhabitants and consisted of 122 houses. In terms of nationality, 857 Germans and one Czech lived in Nieder Berzdorf. The hamlet of Hammerdrehe still belonged to Nieder Berzdorf. In 1895 the connection road to Weißkirchen was built. The most important company at that time was the Limburger textile factory.

In 1930, 928 people lived in Nieder Berzdorf / Suchá Dolní. After the Munich Agreement , the community was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Reichenberg district until 1945 . In 1939 the community had 810 inhabitants. After the end of World War II, Nieder Berzdorf came back to Czechoslovakia and the German population was expelled by 1946 . In 1950 Dolní Suchá only had 401 inhabitants. On January 1, 1961 it was incorporated into Chotyně . At the same time, the village was assigned from Okres Liberec-okolí to Okres Liberec. In 1970 there were 349 people living in the village and in 1991 there were only 193. Since the reorganization in 1980, Dolní Suchá belongs to Hrádek nad Nisou . In 1991 the place had 193 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 74 houses in which 263 people lived.
