The Černý potok (German Schwarzbach ) is a left tributary of the Smědá ( Wittig ) in the Czech Republic .
course
The Černý potok rises on the Jizera ridge on the northeast slope of the Černá hora ( Schwarzenberg , 1085 m) in the Vánoční louka bog. The brook first flows on the Sedlo Holubníku ( pigeon house saddle) to the north and east of the Na Skalce (963 m). West of the Polední Kameny ( Mittagsteine , 1007 m), the Černý potok forms a deep rocky gorge to the northwest, in which the brook overcomes 400 meters of altitude and forms seven waterfalls. The middle section of the gorge has the steepest gradient, here the stream plunges 280 m down over a kilometer. The striking rock groups Frýdlantské cimbuří ( Friedländer Zinne ) and Hajní kostel ( Hainskirche ) rise above the Schwarzbach Gorge on the right, and the Hlídače koutu on the left.
Then the Černý potok reaches the village of Bílý Potok . After five kilometers, the stream flows into the Smědá, southwest of the Bílý Potok train station, in the locality of Vinkl von Hejnice .
