The EuroVelo route EV3 (pilgrim route) is a European long-distance cycle route over 5,100 kilometers from Trondheim in Norway to Santiago de Compostela in Spain .

Routing

In Norway there is an extensive network of cycle routes that are signposted with the local route. From Trondheim to Moss the route is signposted as Pilegrimsruta (No. 7), from Moss to the border as Kystruta (No. 1). From Moss it runs on the same route as the North Sea Cycle Route .

The EV3 starts in Trondheim , runs through Lillehammer and Oslo to Moss and on via Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg to the Norwegian-Swedish border near Halden .

In Sweden , the cycle route on Cykelspåret på västkusten follows the same route as the North Sea Cycle Route . The Swedish section runs along the North Sea coast via Strömstad , Lysekil and Stenungsund to Gothenburg .

The Danish section runs on the national cycle route Hærvejsruten and is signposted with number 3. The route leads from Frederikshavn via Aalborg , Hobro , Viborg , Vejen , Vojens , Rødekro to Padborg and passes the border to Germany after Kruså .

In Germany, the route corresponds to the D-Netz route D7 pilgrim route .

In the Belgian section, the route has not yet been finally clarified. The largest part should run on the existing RAVeL network . There are Liège , Huy , Andenne , Namur , Sambreville , Charleroi , Thuin and Erquelinnes happens.

In the French section, the route has not yet been finally clarified, for some sections in France route alternatives are being discussed.

From the Belgian border at Jeumont , the route leads via Maubeuge , near Trélon , to Tergnier , Chauny , Noyon , Compiègne , Senlis and to Paris . Continue via Melun , Nemours , Montargis to Orléans . Most of these route sections will not be completed until 2014 and 2020.

From Orléans to Tours , the route along the Loire runs on the same route as the Atlantic - Black Sea route (EV6) . This part has already been completed.

Several alternatives are still being discussed from Tours to the south. The route is possible via Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine , Le Blanc , Montmorillon , Confolens , Montbron , Angoulême , Châteauneuf-sur-Charente , Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire , Libourne . An alternative via Bordeaux is planned, as well as one directly to Bazas . Via Mont-de-Marsan on to Dax and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port . For this southern part of the route, too, most of the route sections are not yet completed.

The cycle path therefore always runs close to the Camino Francés pilgrimage route .
