Nemours is located 70 kilometers southeast of Paris ( BP ) in the Arrondissement of Fontainebleau on the Loing River and on the Canal du Loing , which accompanies the river of the same name.

In the Middle Ages , Nemours was the name given to the Duchy of Nemours , which stretched along the middle course of the Seine to the Duchy of Orléans .
