Samois-sur-Seine is a French commune with 2053 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Île-de-France region . It is located between Melun and Fontainebleau about 60 kilometers south of Paris . It is known as the home of numerous writers, including Victor Hugo and Georges Simenon, and as the place of death of the jazz musician Django Reinhardt , in whose honor the Django Reinhardt Festival takes place every year.
