Vulaines-sur-Seine is located on the Seine about 65 kilometers southeast of Paris in the Fontainebleau forest . Vulaines-sur-Seine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Héricy in the north and east, Champagne-sur-Seine in the south-east, Samoreau in the south and Samois-sur-Seine in the west and north-west.

The municipality is located on the Île-de-France tram .
