Montigny-sur-Loing is a French municipality with 2701 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Fontainebleau and the canton of Nemours . The inhabitants are called Montignons .
geography
Montigny-sur-Loing lies on the Loing , a tributary of the Seine , at the southern foot of the Fontainebleau forest . Montigny-sur-Loing is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fontainebleau in the north, Épisy in the east, Le Genevraye in the south and Bourron-Marlotte in the west.
