The Euro Velo -Route EV9 (Baltic-Adriatic route (EV9) until 2017 Amber Trail called) international and Baltic - Adriatic (formerly The Amber Route ) is a European cycle route . It leads about 1900 kilometers from Gdansk on the Baltic Sea to Pula on the Adriatic Sea. This north-south route runs through six countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Italy and Croatia. The route is only laid out in the Czech Republic and Austria and is signposted as “EuroVelo”.

Routing

In Poland

The route is to start in Poland in Gdansk and lead south along the Vistula through the cities of Tczew , Grudziądz , Bydgoszcz and Inowrocław . From there, the route then heads west from the former Polish capital Gnesen via Poznan , Ostrów Wielkopolski to Breslau an der Oder and on to Głuchołazy on the Polish-Czech border. The Polish section leads along historical and cultural sites such as the Lower Vistula Valley Landscape Park and the Wielkopolski National Park . The completion of the route is planned for 2017/18.

In Czech Republic

The route runs through the cities of Littau , Olomouc , Brno , Mikulov and Břeclav . Among other things, the Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape will be crossed. The EV9 is signposted from Brno.

In Austria

From Vienna to Bad Radkersburg , the EV9 route follows the Lower Austrian thermal baths cycle path . Then it goes along the Mur and over Spielfeld to Slovenia.

In Slovenia

From the Austrian border the route leads through the cities of Maribor and Ljubljana .

In Italy

The EV9 makes a short detour through Italy: It leads from the Slovenian border through Trieste , before it crosses the border again into Slovenia.

In Croatia

The EuroVelo 9 runs through the western side of the Istrian peninsula from Umag via Porec to Pula .
