The Wielkopolska National Park ( Wielkopolski Park Narodowy in Polish ) is a national park in Poland , which is located in the Wielkopolska Lake District, 15 km south of Poznan .
General
The character of the national park is mainly influenced by the effects of a glacier in the period 70,000-10,000 years ago. Most of the area is formed by a moraine plateau consisting of clay, sand and sedimentary rock. The plateau area is closed by a dammed moraine with the highest point in the park - Mount Osowa (132 m above sea level). The same plateau is cut through by numerous channels hollowed out by the glacier and flowing into several lakes. The most beautiful of them is Lake Goreckie , which has two islands . Another special feature of the park is the large number of boulders . The largest of them, the so-called Lesnikow foundling, is a protected natural monument.
