Franny and the Fireballs is a German band that was founded in 1973 in Hamburg by the brothers Ralf (Franny) and Knut Hartmann. They are committed to authentic rock 'n' roll of the 1950s in the style of Bill Haleys Comets.

history

In 1972 the brothers Ralf (guitar) and Knut (bass) Hartmann decided to found a rock 'n' roll band after almost three years of musical abstinence. By the mid-1960s they had already gained experience in various beat bands and felt that it was time for a rock'n'roll revival in the style of the Golden Fifties. Ralf's musical role model Franny Beecher , guitarist of Bill Haleys Comets, gave the band its name, and with saxophonist Peter Voigt and Manfred Schmidt on drums took place on April 12th in the Haus der Jugend in Hamburg-Volksdorf under the name Frannys Rock 'n 'Roll Ensemble held the first appearance.

In 1974 the name was changed to Franny & The Fireballs . In 1975 the band played as support on the Little Richard tour. In 1979 they opened for Bill Haley & The Comets. In the early 1980s they became Ted Herold's backing band . In 1982, a television appearance in the music store in Bremen initiated the joint tour of Germany.

In 1984 the musical Elvis followed in Hamburg - Stations of a Career with Peter Kirchberger in the leading role. The Fireballs were the Elvis Presley Band more than 200 times . A house that was always sold out encouraged a tour in 1985 through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In 1990 there was another Elvis tour with trips to the new federal states.

Further television appearances followed, for example in the television garden , in the current showroom and in the Saturday night show .

From 1997 on there were various joint appearances with the original Bill Haleys Comets. In 1999, the Fireballs could be heard in the opening act of Jerry Lee Lewis .

In 2005 the band formed together with Patricia Stegemann ( Suzie ) the formation Suzie and the Seniors , which mainly plays the beat of the 1960s.
