Rhythm guitarist
The rhythm guitarist is the musician in a band who plays the rhythm and accompaniment with the guitar . The division of labor between solo and rhythm guitarists in the Quintette du Hot Club de France was developed during the 1930s.
The rhythm guitar plays the rhythmic chord accompaniments , while the lead guitarist plays the melody lines and the bassist takes over the bass accompaniment. The rhythm guitar is often taken over by the singer, for example with Bon Jovi ( Jon Bon Jovi ), Metallica ( James Hetfield ), Nickelback ( Chad Kroeger ) or Kiss ( Paul Stanley ).
