Rise Against is an American punk / hardcore band from Chicago , Illinois . The group is known for its political commitment; many songs have ideological themes as content. Animal rights are particularly important to the band: two members are vegetarians and two are vegans . They also support the PETA and Sea Shepherd organizations .
history
The band was founded in 1999 under the name "Transistor Revolt" by Tim McIlrath, Toni Tintari as well as Joe Principe and Dan "Mr. Precision “Vlekinsky founded. In 2000 they released a self-produced demo recording, also called Transistor Revolt . A year later they signed with Fat Wreck Chords to release their first two albums, The Unraveling and Revolutions per Minute . Mr. Precision left Rise Against in 2001 and was replaced by Todd Mohney. They later switched to Dreamworks Records and recorded their third album, Siren Song of the Counter Culture . However, Dreamworks Records was taken over by the Universal Music Group and eventually Rise Against found themselves at Geffen Records , a subsidiary of the Universal Music Group, where they released Siren Song of the Counter Culture in August 2004 . Shortly after Rise Against signed with Geffen Records, Mohney left the band and Chris Chasse took his place, who was replaced by Zach Blair in early 2007 . Fat Wreck Chords released a revised re-release of The Unraveling in August 2005 . On July 4, 2006, the album The Sufferer & the Witness was released again on Geffen Records. The fifth album, like the two albums Revolutions Per Minute and The Sufferer & the Witness , was recorded and produced by Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendents) and Jason Livermore. It was released on October 10, 2008 under the name Appeal to Reason . According to Zach Blair, the band began recording the new album in September 2010. The album, called Endgame , was released on March 11, 2011 in Germany. On January 18, 2011 there was the premiere of the new single Help is on the way . On February 14, 2011, part of the first Single Architects was published on the Soundcloud platform and has since been sold. On June 21, 2011, the music video for the song Make it Stop (September Children) was released, which addresses the problem of suicide among young people at the end of September 2010 due to bullying .
As a result of February 29, 2012, the band had their first television appearance worldwide on TV total . Contrary to the announcement that the band would play the title Satellite from their then current album Endgame , band co-founder Tim McIlrath - according to Raab spontaneously - performed solo with Swing Life Away .
On September 6, 2013, the band released via Interscope Records with Long forgotten songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000-2013 a collection of 26 single B-sides , compilation contributions and cover songs .
On June 4, 2014, the band announced their new album The Black Market via a video posted on Facebook . The single I Don't Wan't To Be Here Anymore was released on June 10th. The album The Black Market followed on July 11th .
On April 19, 2017, the band published a short video for the new single The Violence on Facebook and Twitter . On April 20, the album Wolves was announced for June 9, 2017 with the release of the single .
