The Unraveling is the debut album by the American punk rock band Rise Against , which was released on April 24, 2001 under the label of Fat Wreck Chords . Under the direction of producer Mass Giorgini , the album was produced at Sonic Iguana Studios in Lafayette, Indiana in December 2000 . It is the only Rise Against studio album in which singer Tim McIlrath does not play guitar .
background
Rise Against existed for over a year as a local Chicago band under the name "Transistor Revolt" before the recordings . They had previously released a demo album under this name. Transistor Revolt before they changed their name to Rise Against. Shortly after the demo album was released, drummer Tony Tintari left the band and Rise Against replaced him with Brandon Barnes. The demo album made the punk label Fat Wreck Chords aware of Rise Against, which the band later signed. The Unraveling was recorded in December 2000. Material from Transistor Revolt was also used.
