Zach Blair (full name: Zachariah Joaquin Blair ; born December 26, 1974 in Sherman , Texas , USA ) is the lead guitarist and backing singer for the American punk / hardcore band Rise Against .

Career

Zach Blair gained his first musical experience in 1998 as the guitarist of the band Adventures Of Jet . After high school , Blair moved to Dallas with his brother Doni , where they formed Hagfish and Armstrong . In 2003 both brothers joined the band Only Crime . Zach Blair also played as Flattus Maximus in the heavy metal band Gwar from 1999 to 2002 . In 2013 he returned to Gwar for the album Battle Maximus .

In 2007 he replaced frontman Tim McIlrath at Rise Against, then lead guitarist Chris Chasse. Together with Rise Against, Blair has released 5 studio albums so far.

Equipment

At the beginning of his musical career, Blair only played guitars of the Gibson brand SG , following his idols Angus Young , Pete Townshend and Tony Iommi . However, he now prefers Les Paul guitars . Blair uses a black Gibson Les Paul Custom with pickups from Seymour Duncan as the main guitar . Blair mainly uses the Marshall and Rivera brands as amplifiers .
