Music and lyrics

The lyrics in Wolves deal with the usual political issues for the band, but this time with a special focus on the 2016 presidential election in the United States . In songs like How Many Walls , Welcome to the Breakdown and the theme song, the band, as supporters of the Democratic Party, speaks out against Donald Trump's views , just as they did during his time with President George W. Bush . Songs like House on Fire and Politics of Love deal more with emotional and private issues, but retain a political note.

The texts are not limited to American topics. McIlrath said in an interview: “We are not an American band, but a global one. We have Trump, Great Britain has Brexit . It's a human problem. "
