Current developments
The B 254 is an abbreviation often used in long-distance truck traffic between the A 5 and A 7 motorways . The plan to include the B 254 in the toll obligation from July 1, 2006 , was abandoned. Instead, on October 18, 2006, a general driving ban was imposed on the B 254 between the Felsberg junction of the A 49 to the Fulda-Süd junction of the A 66 for transit trucks over twelve tons. The heavy trucks are only allowed to drive there in the following exceptional cases:
- for loading or unloading along the route;
- within 75 kilometers (as the crow flies) from the place of loading or unloading;
- to and from the place of residence of the driver (special permit required).
With the ban, the former Hessian Transport Minister Alois Rhiel wants to counteract the additional truck traffic caused by the truck motorway toll on the B 254, which had led to an increased burden on residents.
