The federal highway 474 (abbreviation: B 474 ) is a German federal highway in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Münsterland and in the northern Ruhr area.
History / other
Federal highway 474 was set up in the early 1960s to improve the network of federal highways. In the course of time it was replaced by bypass roads in some places. Since the completion of the Dülmen bypass, the B 474 has been routed between the junctions (AS) Dülmen and Dülmen-Nord via the A 43 , where it reaches the previous B 474n motorway feeder , which was already completed when the motorway was built; the old tour through Dülmen was graduated.
The still missing western connection to the AS Dülmen Nord , designed as a clover leaf , is still included in the planning of the B 67 , section Reken-Dülmen.
The plan is to build another section of the B 474 in the northern Ruhr area. It is intended as an extension of A 45 from the junction Dortmund-northwest to Waltrop over to B 235 north of dates lead and relieve the main road 235 in dates, and the national road 609 in Waltrop. The planning is under the working title "B 474n" and has triggered protests from affected residents of Waltrop. The Datteln bypass has now been approved, the decision has been complained about, but is final. Construction began in October 2019.
The section between the A 31 (AS Legden / Ahaus) and the B 54 near Gronau was downgraded to a state, district and municipal road on January 1, 2010.
