The federal highway 196 (abbreviation: B 196 ) is a federal highway in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , starting near Bergen on Rügen on the B 96 and ending in Göhren . The B 196 has a total length of 27 kilometers.

After eight kilometers, the approximately six kilometer long federal road 196a branched off in the village of Karow by the end of the 1990s, which led northeast to the village of Prora . This has meanwhile been downgraded to Landesstraße 29. The road was laid out in connection with the construction of the KdF-Bad in Prora.
