History / other
The federal highway 523 was built in the mid-1980s as a feeder road for the federal highway 81 . The federal highway 523 ends at the industrial area "Auf Herdenen" without connection to another federal highway or federal highway . A continuation to the B 33 near Mönchweiler is planned. Current maps (Google Earth, navigation systems) currently show the continuation of the B 33 in the Villingen urban area (Wieselsbergstrasse) as B 523, but this cannot be verified on site.
