The federal highway 160 (abbreviation: B 160 ) was a planned German federal highway in the north of East Saxony , which was to connect the regions of Weißwasser and Hoyerswerda in the Upper Lusatia .

course

As an east-west fast connection from the federal highway 13 near Ruhland , the industrial areas Boxberg / OL and Schwarze Pump should be better developed on the road side and at the same time cross-border traffic to Poland ( Lebus Voivodeship ) should be bundled. To this end, another border crossing was opened between Sagar and Łęknica to relieve the Bad Muskau / Łęknica city crossing .

The municipalities of the administrative community ( Runde , Groß Düben and Trebendorf ) , among others, spoke out against the preferred route "B 160 north route" . Part of the route would have passed through possible resettlement areas of the Nochten opencast mine . As part of the Trebendorf contract for the resettlement of the Hinterberg district, the Saxon Prime Minister Tillich announced that there would be no double burden of open-cast mining and the busy main road for the communities.

planning

In the 1990s, the working name was initially Bundesstraße 156a in the section Weißwasser (B 156) - Spremberg (B 97). At the same time, a federal motorway 16 was in the preliminary planning , which should form a high-level connection between Senftenberg (A 13) in the direction of Bad Muskau / Żary (Polish A18 ) on its southern route .

The working name of the project was later called Bundesstrasse 160 . In 1992 and 2003 the road was included in the urgent requirement of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan. However, the regional planning procedure was not opened until 2011. The costs for the 21-kilometer section between Hoyerswerda (B 97) and Weißwasser (B 156) were estimated at EUR 35.2 million.

On July 29, 2011 it was announced that the planning for the federal highway had been stopped. The Federal Ministry of Transport has stopped the preliminary planning . The reason is that a new trunk road would pollute the environment too much. Template: future / in 5 yearsA possible construction of the federal highway should be checked again in 2030 at the earliest .

The construction of a state road is now being examined and included in the state development plan for Saxony. Sections of existing roads are to be included in the state road. It is to connect the federal highway 97 at Schwarze Pump with the Spreestrasse (K8481), which leads from Boxberg to Neustadt (Spree) . The industrial sites Boxberg and Schwarze Pump would be integrated into the course of the state road.
