The federal highway 299a is one of the shortest federal highways in Germany with a length of only 1.3 km . It branches off from the B 299 in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate and connects it with the Neumarkt idOPf junction. at the A 3 . It became necessary because a direct link between the A3 and the B 299 was not possible because of the Pilsachtal bridge on the A3 in Pilsach . The B 299a is signposted as the B 299 .
