The national highway 400 (abbreviation: B 400 ) is a German federal highway in northern Hesse . It serves as a motorway feeder from the B 27 near Sontra to the A 4 near Herleshausen . After the completion of the A 44 , this federal road will be downgraded again, as the route will coincide with that of the A 44.
history
The number 400 has been awarded several times throughout history:
Early 1940s
During the occupation of Belgium in World War II , Reichsstrasse 400 was in East Belgium ( Eupen and Malmedy annexed area in 1940 ). At Bütgenbach it crossed the R 399 .
1960s
During the construction of the A 61 , the section between Rheinböllen and the Bingen junction was called the B 400 until the motorway was completed.
1980s
A section of the A 4 between Wommen and Wildeck - Obersuhl - the so-called Thüringer corner - led on the territory of the German Democratic Republic and was therefore not open to traffic. The bypassing of this section from the Obersuhl junction via Wölfterode to the Wommen junction was designated as Bundesstraße 400. With the completion of the A 4 between the Obersuhl and Wommen junctions in 1993, the B 400 received its current route from Wommen to the B 27.
