The national highway 179 (abbreviation: B 179 ) is a German federal highway in the state of Brandenburg .
history
Today's federal road 179 was built in 1849 by the Wusterhausen-Lübbener Chausseebau-Aktiengesellschaft as a paved art road ( Chaussee ) and originally, according to its name, led to Lübben . This street was elevated to Reichsstraße around 1937 , but in contrast to the historical route, Reichsstraße 179 ended at Dollgen at Reichsstraße 87 . Originally the Chaussee led from the Kottbusser Tor in Berlin through the Neukölln district to Brandenburg. With the completion of the A 113 on May 23, 2008, the route within Berlin and up to the Königs Wusterhausen junction was redesigned. The Brandenburg section between the Waltersdorf and Königs Wusterhausen junctions has been downgraded to L 400.
After the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, the Waltersdorfer Chaussee border crossing between Berlin-Rudow and Schönefeld was established.
course
The federal road 179 begins at the Königs Wusterhausen junction on the A 10. From there it leads in the direction of Königs Wusterhausen. The B 179 originally ran north of Königs Wusterhausen directly through the area of the former transmitter. It was moved to the west and now bypasses the area in a wide arc. From here, the B 179 continues south to Märkisch Buchholz . From here it changes its direction in a predominantly easterly direction via Leibsch to Dollgen , where the B 179 at the junction with the B 87 seamlessly merges into the B 320 to Guben .
