Groß Leuthen , Lutol in Lower Sorbian , is a village in Brandenburg in the municipality of Märkische Heide in the Dahme-Spreewald district and the seat of the municipal administration.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1397 as Luthen . In 1857 the church was rebuilt after it was in danger of collapsing. In 1990 the 12th Cultural Festival of the working people of the socialist agriculture should take place within the framework of the 23rd Workers' Festival in Groß Leuthen. On this occasion, as part of the barn summer 2009, a photo exhibition with pictures from the years 1987 to 1989 took place under the title The Little People of Groß Leuthen .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Klein Leuthen was incorporated.

Groß Leuthen was incorporated into the municipality of Märkische Heide on October 26, 2003.

Groß Leuthen Castle

The renaissance castle Groß Leuthen is located on the shores of the Groß Leuthener See . The foundation walls come from a moated castle from the 12th century.

Traditions

Zampern takes place on the first weekend in February and the pancake ball on the following weekend. Since the summer of 2006 there has been the barn summer in town , which from May to October has something to offer for every cultural taste. On a July weekend, the traditional “beach festival” is organized by the village club on the village beach. The highlight of the beach festival is the boat parade in the evening with a program followed by fireworks. Every year at the beginning of November there is a fair in the local inn .

Furthermore, the Eurocampingplatz Spreewaldtor is located on the edge of the village .
