history

The place was first mentioned in 1426 as Beberstorff in documents. The place name is not derived from beavers , but refers to a German surname beaver, according to Reinhard E. Fischer and Ernst Eichler , which indicates a village owner or founder.

Before the Congress of Vienna and the cession of territory by the Kingdom of Saxony to the Kingdom of Prussia , Biebersdorf belonged to Saxony. From 1816 Biebersdorf belonged to the Lübben office in the Lübben district of the Prussian province of Brandenburg . On the nearby Marienberg there was a sheep farm belonging to the village , and viticulture was practiced there at that time . Biebersdorf was counted as a so-called Freidorf to the Landvogtei Lübben, d. H. the residents were at least temporarily exempt from taxes. In 1828 the place had 45 houses and 270 inhabitants. The place was along the road from Lübben to Friedland with a specified distance of "2 hours [to] Lübben". There was also a school building , the school was subordinate to the sovereign Collatur and the inspection by the superintendent zu Lübben. There was also a brick factory in Biebersdorf and a health well is also listed.

By 1840 the population of Biebersdorf rose to 351, even though the number of buildings only increased by one to 46. The place was parish to Krugau , the sheep farm and the vineyard mentioned earlier must have disappeared in the meantime, they no longer appear in the statistics. Until 1864 the population of Biebersdorf increased again very strongly, for the year there are 444 inhabitants in 48 residential buildings. The town had a brick factory, a highway cash drawer on the road via Friedland to Frankfurt and a windmill .

Until 1815 Biebersdorf belonged to the Krummspreeischen Kreis , which was converted into the district of Lübben after the change of area in 1815 . After the Second World War , Biebersdorf was first in the Soviet occupation zone and then in the GDR . During the district reform carried out in the GDR on July 25, 1952, the municipality of Biebersdorf was incorporated into the Lübben district in the Cottbus district. After reunification , the Lübben district was renamed the Lübben district and finally dissolved, the Biebersdorf community was assigned to the Dahme-Spreewald district and joined the Märkische Heide office . On October 26, 2003, this office was dissolved and the municipalities of the office were united to form the new, non-official municipality of Märkische Heide .
