Neu Zauche , Nowa Niwa in Lower Sorbian , is an official municipality in the Dahme-Spreewald district in southeast Brandenburg . Together with seven other cities and municipalities, the municipality forms the Lieberose / Oberspreewald office .
geography
The place is located on the northern edge of the Spreewald between the cities of Lübben (Spreewald) and Lieberose in the Sorbian settlement area . In the municipality is the 54 hectare Briesener See .

history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1334. It was the seat of the rulership of Neu Zauche until 1674 , which was then administered as the Neu Zauche Office or Neu Zauche Rent Office in Lübben until 1874.
Neu Zauche and its current districts have belonged to the Lübben (Spreewald) district in the province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Lübben district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993, the places have been in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg.
As part of the municipal reorganization of Brandenburg on October 26, 2003, the previously independent municipalities of Caminchen and Briesensee were incorporated into Neu Zauche.
During the GDR era, a state- owned printing press factory built and maintained a company holiday camp for the children of its employees in what is now the Briesensee district .

Attractions
The townscape is shaped by the neo-Gothic village church Neu Zauche . The cross-shaped brick building was built between 1859 and 1862 according to plans by Emil Flaminius and extensively restored in 1990/91. The Neu Zauche manor is also on the site's list of monuments .

traffic
Neu Zauche is on the L 44 national road between Lübben and Lamsfeld . The community has a boat port for trips to the Spreewald. The cucumber cycle path leads through the village.
Neu Zauche station had been on the Lübben – Straupitz ( Spreewaldbahn ) line since 1898 , which ceased operations in 1967.
