Carl Wilhelm von Bredow (* 1682 in Neu Zauche ; † September 25, 1761 in Cottbus ) was a Prussian major general and chief of garrison regiment No. 7 . He was the commandant of Stettin , knight of the Pour le Mérite and from 1718 heir to Groß Lübbenau and the Markbrandenburg part of Bischdorf .

Carl Wilhelm was a member of the Brandenburg noble family von Bredow . His parents were Siegmund Gottfried von Bredow (1649–1721) and Barbara Christina von Pannewitz (* around 1653). General Friedrich Siegmund von Bredow (1683–1759) was his brother.

Military career

Bredow was born in Neu Zauche in Niederlausitz . Since 1699 he served in the "Jung-Dönhoff" regiment , on March 15, 1713 he became major there . In 1720 the king transferred him to the “Anhalt-Zerbst” regiment . On May 13, 1727 Bredow was promoted to colonel . In 1737 he got the infantry regiment "von Botzheim" . On July 28, 1740, he was appointed major general. Frederick II gave him the 7th garrison regiment and then the post of commander of Stettin, and he also received the order Pour le Mérite. Bredow demittierte on February 13, 1746 board .

With his regiment he took part in the campaigns in Italy, on the Rhine, in Pomerania and in the Netherlands.

He was married to Elisabeth Wilhelmine von Pannewitz (* 1711; † January 9, 1789) for the third time since 1741. This marriage also remained childless.

After the death of her husband, the widow continued to live at Groß-Lübbenau Castle. Together with her brother and four sisters from the von Mühlen family. But then there were disputes with her brother, so that on June 21, 1779 she had to sell half of Bischdorf and Groß-Lübbenau, the buyer was Count Rochus Friedrich zu Lynar (1708–1781).
