The infantry regiment with the later number No. 8 was one of the oldest Brandenburg-Prussian regiments. It was founded in 1679 as Zieten auf Fuß .

General story

The regiment was established in 1679 from recruits from the Brandenburg garrisons.

Garrison, replacement and social conditions

The regiment was in Minden from 1683 . It was in Szczecin between 1716 and 1792 . 3 companies were stationed in Warsaw and Łowicz from 1794 .

evaluation

The Pomeranian regiment was one of the "top regiments" in the Seven Years' War .

Whereabouts and succession

The regiment belonged to the Reserve Corps Anton Wilhelm von L'Estocq in 1806/07 , later Corps Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher . After the Prussian army reform, transferred to the New Prussian army as the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm IV." (1st Pomeranian) No. 2 .

Uniform, equipment

In the 18th century, the regimental uniform consisted of a blue uniform jacket with red cuffs and skirt lapels and borders with white braids. The cap of the winged grenadiers was blue and red, gold brass fittings with yellow, white and red tufts. The regimental flag was black with white flames.
