The Königsberger Land Regiment was an infantry regiment of the Old Prussian Army .
history
The Königsberger Land Regiment was set up in 1729 by King Friedrich Wilhelm I. In 1730 the regiment had grown to four companies . After suffering considerable losses in the Seven Years' War in 1757 when the Russians marched into East Prussia near Memel , the regiment was partially dissolved and reorganized. In 1788 the Königsberger Land Regiment was dissolved.
Organization, strength and use
Without exception, the team ranks were regarded as unpaid and permanently on leave. Most of the year they stayed in their hometowns, only once a year they were drawn together for 14 days to drill in Königsberg. During this time they received pay, and also when they were used on other occasions. The officers , NCOs and Tambours were on duty all year round, but were permanently on half pay. The determination of the troops was a second contingent, which was mainly due to the fact that it consisted largely of soldiers and officers who were no longer able to be used in the field, disabled , retired or transferred to prison. The Land Regiment was the last listed among the Prussian troops and was only to appear locally defensive in exceptional cases in times of war.
Fighting
From June 28 to July 5, 1757 the land regiment was involved in the fighting off Memel.
Uniformity
The uniform was marked by yellow open lapels and collars as well as blue undergarments.
