Bernhard Friedrich von Hülsen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bernhard Friedrich von Hülsen also Behrend Friedrich von Hülsen (born May 13, 1700 ; † 1763 ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the Königsberg Land Regiment .

Life

Hülsen was a member of the noble family von Hülsen, who had been wealthy in Prussia since the 16th century . His parents were the Prussian lieutenant and heir on Plehnen and Schönbaum Otto Heinrich von Hülsen (1704 †) and Anna Dorothea von Königsegg .

He married Magdalene Katharine von Bonin (1718–1737) in his first marriage in 1736 . In 1742 he is said to have married Elisabeth von Diebes, who was the heir to the estate in Groß Arnsdorf. He went on to another marriage with Esther Wilhelmine von Eppingen (1720–1776), only daughter of the court judge Ernst Ludwig von Eppingen (1688–1765) and Adelgunde Catharina von Goetzen . In 1765 her father's estates Wesselshöfen , Düsterwalde and Kelmkeim in the office of Balga fell to her. The three sons Christoph Ludwig, Ernst Friedrich and Georg Friedrich (1744-1820) were instructed by Immanuel Kant as private tutor on the paternal inheritance from 1753 . The latter was raised to the hereditary Prussian count status in 1800 with his other brothers Bernhard Wilhelm on Wesselshöfen and Ernst Ludwig , as they were among the first Prussian noblemen to abolish serfdom on their estates . This can be reinterpreted on the influence of Kant. A long-term close bond developed between the Hülsen and Kant families, which is also documented in numerous letters.

In 1742, Hülsen is said to have been a major , like in 1753 when Kant took up his duties. In 1755 at the latest, however, he was promoted to colonel and as such took over the Königsberger Land Regiment (No. 2) in 1756 and died in 1763.
