Julius Dietrich von Queis

Julius Dietrich von Queis (* 1705 ; † December 11, 1769 in Stettin ) was a royal Prussian major general and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

At the age of 16 he came to the cadet institute in Berlin. Then he was transferred to regiment No. 26 (Kleist), where he was promoted to staff captain. When King Friedrich II took office , he became the commander of the first grenadier company in the newly established Infantry Regiment No. 26 (Münchow). In the First Silesian War he marched with this company to Silesia in 1740. He was present at the storm on Glogau and in other places. On February 20, 1745 he was promoted to major. On August 7, 1745, he marched with 200 men from Falkenburg to Neustadt when he was attacked by Colonel Drascovics from Károlyi's corps and 1,200 men. The unit left their luggage and fled to Friedland Castle. The trapped were then rescued by Colonel Wartenberg , who advanced with 600 hussars and 200 dragoons.

On September 8, he became a lieutenant colonel and in 1757 a colonel. In 1758 he was appointed major general and on March 1, 1759 received Infantry Regiment No. 8 (Geist). He died on December 11, 1769 in Szczecin.
