Karl Ferdinand von Hagen , named Spirit (* 1710 / 1711 in Briesen , † 19th February 1759 in Bautzen ) was a Prussian Major General and Chief of Infantry Regiment 8th .

Life

Von Hagen's family came from the Mansfeld region . His parents were the heir to Paretz and Polish - Saxon chamberlain Friedrich Hermann von Hagen and Hedwig, née von Rochow from the Trebitz family.

As a young man he came to the body regiment of King Friedrich Wilhelm I. On August 4, 1740 he became a second lieutenant and joined the newly established first battalion of the body guard of the new King Friedrich II. There he received the rank of captain. On March 14, 1741 von Hagen received the promotion to Premier-Lieutenant. On June 18, 1745, he became a staff captain of the guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the army. During the First Silesian War he led his own grenadier battalion with companies from Regiments No. 5 (Wedel) and No. 20 (Voigt). During the Second Silesian War, von Hagen received another grenadier battalion, this time from companies of regiments No. 13 (Truchseß) and No. 37 (Moulin).

On October 27, 1745 he took over the company of Lieutenant Colonel "von Wedel" who had died in the battle of Thrush . In September 1753 he became a colonel in the army, in July 1755 he was promoted to colonel and at the same time became captain of the guard. In August 1756 he was promoted to Major in the Guard, and he was also commander of the second and third battalions of the Guard. On January 3, 1757, he was appointed major general. After the Battle of Prague in 1757, von Hagen took over Infantry Regiment No. 8 . He was seriously injured in the Battle of Hochkirch (also the Seven Years War ). He was brought to Bautzen , where he died on February 19, 1759.

Karl Ferdinand von Hagen was married to Sophie Dorothea von Beeren (1713–1755), widow of Major Karl Dietrich von Holtzendorff , but left no heirs.
