Joshua Lee Holloway (born July 20, 1969 in San José , California ) is an American actor of Dutch and Scottish descent.

Life

Holloway was born on July 20, 1969 in California. His family moved to Free Home , Georgia when he was two years old , where he grew up the second oldest of four boys. As a child, Holloway was interested in film and acting. After studying for a year at the University of Georgia, he decided to pursue a career as a modeling.

Holloway moved to Los Angeles to become a model . He got his first film role in the comedy Doctor Benny . Leading roles in films such as Mi Amigo and Cold Heart followed .

Nevertheless, the offers were limited in its early days, and so Holloway was only hired once or twice a year. However, recognition earned him his lead role in the science fiction television film Sabertooth - Attack of the Saber - Toothed Tiger (2002). The following year he appeared on the series CSI: Vegas and Navy CIS . In the film sequences of the game Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars by EA Games he portrays the Nod soldier Ajay. He is the leading actor in the "Cool Water" commercial for the Davidoff brand .

His international breakthrough came in 2004 when he landed one of the leading roles in the hit series Lost , the role of the opaque, southern-accented James "Sawyer" Ford . In 2011 he was seen in Mission: Impossible - Phantom Protocol alongside Tom Cruise .

Private life

Josh Holloway lives in Los Angeles with his Indonesian wife, whom he married on October 1, 2004 after living together for six years. On April 9, 2009, the couple had a daughter. A son followed in early 2014.
