The Twilight Zone is an American adventure - anthology series , on March 6, 2020 from + Apple TV appeared. It is a new edition of the television series of the same name by Steven Spielberg from 1985 to 1987. This time Spielberg acts as executive producer alongside Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz .

Production and publication

In October 2015, it was reported that NBC would develop a reboot of the 1985 series through Universal Television , for which Bryan Fuller was hired as showrunner . He was also supposed to write the script for the first episode. In October 2017, NBC announced that the series would be produced by Apple and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television . Ten episodes have been ordered with a budget of 5 million each US dollar .

At the beginning of February 2018, Fuller and Hart Hanson left the series project. Fuller is said to have planned a somber edition for adults, while NBC wanted a family-friendly series. In May 2018 the duo Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz were appointed as new showrunners.

Filming for the series took place under the code name Puget Sound from November 2018 to March 2019 in Georgia . On February 27, 2019, Don Handfield announced that the graphic novel The Rift, written by him and Richard Rayner, would be adapted for an episode. After Robert Forster's death on October 11, 2019, it was announced that his last project would appear in an episode of the series dedicated to him.

On February 18, 2020, Apple TV + released a trailer that said the first season would contain five stories. The series premiered on March 6, 2020 on Apple TV + .

This episode is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name by Don Handfield and Richard Rayner.

Mary Ann and her stepson Elijah are out and about in Ohio when a World War II pilot crashes next to them from a crack in the sky. He has to go back through the crack, otherwise the anomaly will endanger the people of the present in Ohio, but Elijah wants to save the soldier from dying in the war.
