Edward Lawrence Kitsis (* 4. February 1971 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American screenwriter and television producer , known for his work on the three ABC - TV series Lost , Once Upon a Time - Once upon a time ... and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland . He is also known by his stage name Eddy Kitsis .

life and career

Edward Kitsis in 1971 as the son of Tybe and Arlen Kitsis in Minneapolis in the US state of Minnesota born. He studied with Adam Horowitz at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , graduating in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in arts, entertainment and media. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles with Horowitz , where he worked as an assistant until he was hired as a screenwriter for a remake of the fantasy series Fantasy Island . However, this was discontinued after thirteen episodes, so he devoted himself to the two The WB series Popular and Felicity . After the two series ended in 2002, he wrote scripts for Birds of Prey , Life as We Know It and One Tree Hill , as well as for the television film Marriage with Obstacles . In 2005 he came in the middle of the first season of the NBC Mystery series Lost as a screenwriter and a producer for the bar of the series. For the second season premiere in September 2006, he was promoted to supervising producer. In February 2006, he and the rest of the staff won the WGA Award for Best Screenplay - Dramatic Series . During the third and fourth seasons he acted as co-executive producer in addition to his two other works and was nominated for another WGA award and an Emmy in 2008. He was promoted to Executive Producer in the fifth and sixth seasons and continued to write screenplays for the series during this time, so that he was nominated for another WGA award in February 2010.

Kitsis and Horowitz also wrote the screenplay for the film Tron: Legacy , a sequel to Tron , as well as several scripts for the short-lived animated series TRON: Der Aufstand based on the two films . He and Horowitz are also the creators of the fantasy series Once Upon a Time , which has aired on ABC since October 23, 2011. The two had the concept for the series before they got involved with Lost , but they wanted to finish one project before moving on to the next. With the success of the series, the two developed the spin-off Once Upon a Time in Wonderland in 2013 about Alice, who returns to Wonderland and is looking for her lover. The offshoot was ended after only one season and 13 episodes.

In May 2002, he became engaged to Jennifer Susman, a film graduate from the University of Texas . The wedding took place on March 29, 2003 in Scottsdale , Arizona .
