Revue Studios

Revue Studios, initially known as Revue Productions, were founded in 1943 by MCA Inc. to produce radio shows. NBC and Revue's partnership dates back to September 1950 when Armor Theater , based on the radio show Stars Over Hollywood , began airing . The company was finally renamed Revue Studios in 1958 after MCA acquired part of Universal Studios . Four years later, after acquiring Decca Records , the company was renamed Universal Television.

During the early days of television, Revue was responsible for the production and distribution of many television classics. The most noteworthy series of these is Growing Up , which was first broadcast for a season on CBS before being shown on ABC from 1958 to 1963 . Revue also produced Alan Hale, Jr.'s Biff Baker, USA (1952–1953), all of Rod Cameron's syndication series, City Detective (1953–1955), State Trooper (1956–1959) and Coronado 9 (1960–1991), and Bill Williams ' western series The Adventures of Kit Carson (1951–1955). It also produced the crime series Johnny Midnight , in which Edmond O'Brien stars as a New York private investigator . Another of his productions was the 52 episode series Crusader starring Brian Keith , which was broadcast on CBS from 1955 to 1956.

Revue also produced the later seasons of The Jack Benny Program for CBS and NBC . In coproduction with Jack Benny's production studio J and M Productions , Checkmate , General Electric Theater and Alfred Hitchcock Presents for CBS, Studio 57 for DuMont , Wells Fargo , The Restless Gun and At the Foot of the Blue Mountains for NBC, and Wagon Train for NBC and ABC . In addition, the first two seasons of the long-lived western series The People of Shiloh Ranch were produced.
