Production and broadcast

The series is a modern variant of the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson . After ordering a pilot episode in January 2012, NBC gave Do No Harm with Infamous , later aired as Deception , the green light for a first season. In November 2012 the number of episodes was reduced from 13 to 12.

The first episode was broadcast on January 31, 2013 on the earlier slot of Emergency Room - Die Notaufnahme . However, the episode was only seen by 3.12 million viewers and achieved a target group rating of 0.9, which was unacceptable for NBC. As the viewership of the series for the second episode fell to 2.2 million viewers and a rating of 0.7, NBC announced the cancellation of the series two days later.

The remaining ten episodes were always broadcast on Saturdays between June 29 and September 7, 2013.

reception

Loryn Pröschke from Serienjunkies.de described the idea of Do No Harm as "quite exciting", but "the implementation [...] owes a lot to this tension". On the positive side, however, "Steven Pasquale is a real bore as Jason, but when Ian can display a captivating comedy and viciousness".
