action

After Vivian Bowers passed away, her best friend, police officer Joanna Locasto, doesn't believe she died of an overdose. She is persuaded by her former partner Will Moreno, who now works for the FBI , to infiltrate the family of the dead. Since Joanna once grew up with the Bowers because her mother was a domestic servant, she succeeds. In her attempts to get to the bottom of Vivian's death, she quickly realizes that the Bowers are not a harmonious family. She learns Vivian attended AA meetings . In the course of her investigation, she not only gets closer to her ex-boyfriend Julian Bowers, but also wants to help his cousin Mia, who suffers from the harmful use of drugs that she gets from her parents' company Lawson Pharmaceuticals .

As time goes on, Joanna learns more and more of the Bowers' secrets. So she learns that Vivian and Dwight Haverstock had an affair and that Vivan became pregnant as a result. As it turns out, Mia is Vivian's daughter. Robert only married Sophia so that she could raise Vivan's daughter as his own. Mia is also the only one who has been able to donate bone marrow to Dwight. Meanwhile, Mia meets Kyle Farrell, who was blackmailed by Dwight so that he could get at Mia. When Mia tells him she's donating Dwight bone marrow, Kyle tells her the truth. Mia breaks it up. In the season finale, Joanna learns that Vivian was murdered by her father Robert.

reception

"... if the other characters don't make a leap in development soon and the plot doesn't become more subtle after the introduction of the characters, the interesting insights into the turbulent past won't make the format any more than an average soap."
