Peter Horton (born August 20, 1953 in Bellevue , Washington ) is an American actor , producer and director . He is mainly known to German audiences for his role as Gary Shepherd in the television series The Best Years (original title: thirtysomething ).

Career

Peter Horton had his first appearances in film and television productions from the late 1970s. In 1984 he starred in the horror film Children of Wrath . For three years he directed the film Amazons on the Moon or Why the Americans have the channel full together with John Landis . As executive producer, he was responsible for the series Dirty Sexy Money , the pilot of which he also directed as a director. He has appeared as a director since 1985 and works primarily for television. Mississippi - River of Hope from 1995 is one of the few films he has directed .

He also directed several episodes of the television series Grey's Anatomy , for which work he was nominated for the DGA Award and in 2005 for an Emmy . From 2005 to 2007 he also worked as a co- or executive producer for the series.
