Life Unexpected is an American drama series that aired in two seasons on The CW from 2010 to 2011 . Like the station, the series is aimed at a young audience between 18 and 34 years of age.
action
The series is about the 16-year-old Lux, who has spent her entire life in foster families. She was never adopted because of childhood heart problems. At the age of 15 she decides to visit her birth parents to get their signatures so that she can live alone as a minor. When she finds her biological father, Nathaniel "Baze" Bazile, the owner of a bar, Lux only tells him that he has a daughter. He brings her to Catherine "Cate" Cassidy, with whom he had a one-night stand at the winter ball . Cate is the birth mother of Lux and part of the presenter duo "Cate & Ryan" on the morning show of a well-known Portland radio station. Ryan is also her fiancé. Cate became pregnant at the age of 16 after the one night stand with Baze and put Lux up for adoption because she believed that Lux would be better off with a foster family. Cate quickly develops feelings for Lux and Baze also wants to take care of Lux. The court decides that Cate and Baze receive provisional, joint custody, whereby Lux is allowed to live with Cate due to the better living conditions. However, Lux has trouble forgiving Cate for giving away her baby and so it can be difficult for them both. In addition, Cate is unsure of how she feels about Ryan and Baze. This makes Ryan jealous, believing Cate is still in love with Baze. When Baze realizes that he still loves Cate, he wants to storm their wedding, but he comes too late and watches as Cate chooses Ryan.
In the second season, Lux breaks up with her boyfriend and spends a great day with Eric, who, as it later turns out, is her new English teacher. The two fall in love without knowing who they are dealing with. The otherwise harmonious couple Ryan and Cate are in a crisis because Cate loses her job as co-host on the joint show. In addition, Ryan's ex-girlfriend appears, who, as it later turns out, is pregnant by Ryan. Lux and Eric struggle against their feelings, which proves difficult as Lux has an English weakness and Eric is their mentor. The two end up having a secret relationship. "Tash", Lux's best friend, gets from Ryan and Cate - who agree to become their guardians - their own apartment, in which the secret meetings between Eric and Lux take place. However, Baze and Cate find out about their relationship and forbid Lux to see Eric again. This leaves the city. Tash also hooks up with Jones, a boy who was into Lux in season one. When Ryan's sister comes to visit, Baze sleeps with her without knowing who he is facing, whereupon the bar burns down by mistake. Baze, who has no money to rebuild the bar, looks for a new job in his father's company. There he falls in love with his boss, with whom he later meets. He also begins coaching the school's basketball team, where Lux and Tash play. In the final episode, there is a jump in time of two years. Here you can see Lux delivering the closing speech. Ryan's ex and baby are seen sitting down with Cate, Ryan, Baze, Math and Cates' pregnant best friend. Tash and Jones are also sitting next to each other. When Lux finishes her speech and everyone has their degrees, she runs up to Jones and kisses him. Then she hugs Tash and everyone congratulates her. Lux then asks about her 'mom' and her 'dad'. Only at the end it turns out that Cate and Baze have finally found each other, while Ryan is back with his ex-girlfriend.
